End-Of-Year Gratitude from Our Founder & CEO

December 21, 2022

To our growing Tixr community:

Happy holidays! The last time I wrote a letter like this, none of us could have predicted what 2020 had in store. Live events surged back in 2021 at unprecedented rates, and while other companies spent this year reeling from last year’s riches, 2022 was our strongest year — on every front. Our clients are thriving, and against the odds, Tixr continues to grow, crossing the major milestone of $1B in transactions in 2022.

We started this business as fans, for fans. And if there’s anything this year taught us, it’s that our mission to build a more stable, secure platform on modern infrastructure is valid. The market is literally begging for more modern solutions, and we’ve struck a chord.

We are at our core a product company. This year, we heavily invested in our team and the product, dramatically upgrading our core functionality while opening up new global markets and verticals. We also raised a sizeable round from strategic investors across tech, media, sports, and music. By exercising fiscal responsibility, we ended every month in the black, and our balance sheet’s never been stronger.

2022 marked the first year of sports on Tixr, and it’s now our fastest growing vertical. In true Tixr fashion, we took big swings early and moved fast. Doubling the size of our engineering team paved the way for major advancements around global infrastructure, more speed and stability, and next-gen reserved seating capabilities. The long nights were worth it, opening doors to large-scale facilities like Bell Bank Park, well-known brands like Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, even pro-sports organizations like the Danbury Hat Tricks. We jumped on the fastest-growing sport in America, powering The Pro Tour of Pickleball. To top it off, we enhanced global localization capabilities to support the LIV Golf, the biggest sports story of the year, from the US to Thailand.

We continue to build exceptional partnerships in music. We firmly believe in supporting artists and artist-driven experiences on our platform, and our direct partnership with RÜFUS DU SOL on Sundream is a prime example of how artists can control, curate, and cultivate their own large-scale events with a forward-thinking ticketing partner. We powered the triumphant return of Lightning in a Bottle after two years of postponements and welcomed marquee venues like The Caverns, Dillon Amphitheater, and Temple nightclubs.

The Tixr team is now almost 100 strong, and we’re officially open for business in Europe with our first hires across the pond. We brought in key new executives across finance, marketing, engineering operations, and client services. And just a few weeks ago, we hosted our first ever Tixr Week: four days of seminars, events, and team bonding that energized our staff for 2023 and beyond.

In 2023, Tixr turns 10. Expect a focused return to delivering innovative technology to solve highly complex legacy problems that have long plagued this industry. I couldn’t be more proud of the team, the community, and the platform we’re building. Thank you for the support on this journey. The future looks bright.
